Kevin Hopper
There is nothing easier than capturing photos and videos. We carry our cell phones wherever we go. They contain hundreds, maybe thousands, of pictures and in a moment we can add many more. We take pictures of our children, friends, sunsets, pizza, animals, car, ballgames, ourselves, what we want to buy or what we just bought. We have hundreds of hours of video. Yet, what do we really have?
Years ago I learned about all I had was a lot of slightly out of focus, badly framed, and poorly exposed pictures. My videos were shaky, lengthy, and tedious to sit through. If my cellphone quit working, which has happened, everything would be gone. I asked myself, “If I’m going to take all of these pictures, especially of my children growing up, shouldn’t I get some good ones?”
After researching options I enrolled in the New York Institute of Photography’s Complete Professional Photographer school. Years later I followed up with the New York Film Academy’s Documentary course. The lessons learned from my classes and the countless mistakes from taking tens of thousands of pictures are invaluable.
We now have pictures and timely edited videos that are wonderful keepsakes. In countless settings I’ve found incredible joy by serving others, hence the name of our company, “Aliis Opera,” service to others. I’m excited about the next conversation and opportunity, is that with you?
